Following the successful Main Street Approach advanced by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Grant-Ferry Association is organized around four primary workgroups, each with a distinct function, but all of which are inextricably entwined.
This workgroup is charged with getting our community stakeholders working toward the same goal and assembling the appropriate human and financial resources to implement a sound and strategic revitalization program. Fundraising/grant-writing, board development, membership, staffing, legal issues and finance all fall under the scope of organization.
This group is all about celebrating our area, promoting our successes, and sponsoring events that give a dynamic character to the district. Special events and festivals, holiday promotions, advertising and marketing, and related functions are part of this group's responsibilities.
The streetscape workgroup is charged with developing and implementing programs aimed at creating an attractive, pedestrian-friendly commercial district where people want to be. Commercial district design guidelines, street furniture programs, clean streets initiatives, public art projects, parking plans, working with Housing Court, and other elements focused on the physical environment are issues dealt with by the Streetscape Workgroup.
The goal of this workgroup is to sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruit compatible new businesses and new economic uses as we build a commercial district that responds to the needs of our community. Recruitment, identifying needs, retail business incubation, and working with technical support partners is part of what this group will do.
